Premium Handcrafted and Home-grown Chilli and Garlic Products.
Teleios(τέλειος) is a Greek word meaning to strive for perfection.
Matthew 5:48
Teleios Boerdery is a family-run farm, founded in 2015, shortly after we, Wynand and Anita Claassens, were married on our farm outside Modimolle. From the beginning, our guiding principle has been simple: always deliver more and beter, rather than less. The farm originally belonged to Wynand's father and in 2020 we took ownership to continue building our family legacy.
We started with bonsmara cattle breeding. To support our herd, we planted blue buffalo grass, and what began as feed for our own cattle quicky grew into something more. By 2016 we were cutting and baling square bales on demand. At the time we knew very little about how a baler worked - but we learned together: one of us driving the tractor the other one walking alongside the baler to understand the machine. Today, Wynand still uses the same antique baler and operates it like a pro.
In 2018 we added sheep to the farm. One of them Fiona, a hand-raised Pedi-lamb, holds a special place in our story. Despite being abandoned by her mother she grew to an exceptional and caring ewe.
In 2019 we began planting a small annual crop of purple garlic. Then in 2020, during the COVID lockdown, Anita's brother, Christian, came to stay with us. With time on his hands, he decided to plant 5000 long slim cayenne chillies - which he called his "babies" because he planted each by hand.
By November 2020, the first harvest was ready, but Christian had to leave for work elsewhere, leaving us with his crop. With no experience in marketing chillies, we packed it and delivered it to the Fresh Produce Market - only to make a loss. That setback forced us to rething our approach. Instead of selling raw fresh products, we started creating value-added products. This led to our first and still most-loved Chilli Garlic Crunch and Chilli Sauce Hot and Mild.
From the start, this has been a true family effort. Our whole household - including our two young children, who were just one and three years old at that time - helped in the kitchen, learning and even tried their hand at labeling - today they can label like pros.
Our first market was the Nylstroom Boeremark. From there demand grew steadily, and our products made their way into shops across Modimolle, Bela Bela, Middelburg in Mpumalanga, Parys in the Free State and as far as Southbroom, Plettenberg Bay, Knysna. By the time we considered stopping chilli production it was already too late - our products became well-loved and sought after.
We still sell at local markets and exhibition events, including the kykNET Buite Ekspo at Sondela and the Leeupooort Market.
Every chilli and garlic clove is harvested, inspected, and prepared by hand—no machinery, just care and attention. Our products are homemade, fresh, and truly from our farm.
In 2026, we are expanding our range with three new products: Sweet Chilli Piquanté, Cowboy Candy, and Pickled Whole Jalapeños.
